Short Film Analysis - Rocks That Bleed

Rocks That Bleed

Camerawork

The shots are kept fairly simple throughout this scene which is useful for me as it shows what can be achieved without a large camera rig.

The shot of the man removing his glasses could be perceived as having a deeper meaning as it shows him removing layers of himself, exposing himself and this combined with the closeness of the pair of them in the shot suggests a kind of intimacy between the two even without hte wider context of the film

However this intimacy is undercut by the lack of eye contact between the two men which suggests some kind of distance between the two of them. This is developed by the fact that one constantly looks for the eye contact of the other while the other rarely does.

Pan down shot during the beginning of the party would be a nice way to start the scene as a

Editing

While the colour tint is relevant in the wider context of the short film I will not focus on it as I don't
think I would like to use this kind of technique in my final film.

Sound

The cover of "Here Comes The Sun" by the Beatles is both somewhat comedic due to the nature of the pairs predicament but is also very touching due to the out of character reaction by the pair who have been rather somber up to this point in the narrative.\

Narrative

While the narrative links back into the rest of the piece that has come before this scene it is not nessacary for the viewer to have seen
