Short Film Analysis - Post-It®

Short Film Analysis - Post-It
Length - 7:31

Camerawork

The opening two shot of the two of them is very nice and fills the frame well.
The initial close up is of the women immediately building intimacy with her and the audience
This changes  into a closer version of this shot when the man sits down.

For the rest of this scene the camera cuts between these three shots with the only change being the entrance of the man with the beard who's entrance is handled effectively and adds interest to the scene

During the montage the camera becomes far more free moving following the action. occasionally the shots used in the montage were somewhat clunky as people weren't fully in frame as the focus was on the post it notes.

Editing

Shot reverse shot is handled effectively and builds intimacy with both characters

The final montage is handled very well and the shots are not cut unnecessarily short at any point  and there is a good mix of emotional moments and humour

While the titles are nice and I like the text used in them the animation of them coming in is accompanied by this out of context sound

Sound

The soundscape during the outdoor sequences is well done as it is unobtrusive and adds to the atmosphere of the initial setting.

Piano Soundtrack beginning is appropriately timed and fits with the change in mood of the piece at that point. However it cuts out randomly and draws more attention because of it which is slightly annoying

The final music track used is fantastic and builds into the whimsical tone of the ending and the relatively fast paced montage style of the ending

Narrative

The narrative is interesting and fairly charming however the limited run time means that the women's motives seem to move at a breakneck pace and the dialogue is somewhat clunky because of this. In addition to this it feels like the film was written backwards with the montage being devised first with the initial scene coming later which creates a bit of a weird disconnect between these two scenes
